The Spanish Pond. A unique freshwater lake across Fort Caroline Road from the entrance to the Memorial. Spanish Pond was a resource to the Timucua people who flourished in this area for 5000 years before Europeans arrived. The trail through the Theodore Roosevelt Area begins here. Don't forget the industrial-strength insect repellant.
