The Bryant Patton Bridge as seen from Cat Point, near Eastpoint, Florida. Completed in 1965, the bridge is the only connection to Saint George Island from the mainland. It is two lanes wide and over four miles long. This concrete trestle section extends 1.3 miles to a causeway which is 1.6 miles long. The causeway gives way to another trestle section slightly longer than a mile that arches up over the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway and drops into the main commercial area of Saint George Island.
The bridge bisects the planet's foremost oyster beds. If oysters were potatoes, this would be Idaho.
