View of the causeway section of the Bryant Patton Bridge facing north toward
the mainland's Cat Point just north of Saint George Island. To the left
is the shallow Apalachicola Bay, to the right Saint George Sound. The turbulence
of the bay compared to the mirror-like sound is a textbook example of the
ability of a prevailing wind to counteract the expected currents and tides
of a broad expanse of shallow water.
It is also a killer spot to watch immense pelicans hang endlessly on the
daytime updrafts.
